Yang (died 1580s) was a Chinese sailor who lived during the late Sengoku period.

Biography[edit | edit source]

By 1582, Yang was a sailor who made travels between Japan and other countries like Macau. At one point, he was paid to travel to Japan and transport his company, two Black Crosses Eamon Hathaway and his pupil Nirmala. Although a drunkard, he grew suspicious of his company and was angered at their English map. However, during their voyage, his ship was attacked by pirates. Fortunately, Eamon and Nirmala killed their attackers, frightening Yang. After more than sixty days, they reached Kii, much to Yang's satisfaction. Unfortunately, his ship crashed at a reef near the shores of Iseji Trails. With no ship, Yang headed across the region and found his way to Yuasa.[2]

Stranded, Yang was drinking his sorrows at a cabin until he was found by Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke. Not wanting to talk, Yang was pushed for more information on his previous companions. Thus, Yang offered a drinking game, which Yasuke agreed to. However, Yang told very little as Yasuke became too inebriated to continue his questioning. Naoe tried to stop Yang but he fought back against her. Thrown outside, Yang unsheathed his yari and fought against the shinobi. After being bested, he yielded. When Naoe questioned what they were looking for, Yang drunkily revealed that it was "The Observatory." However, before he could say more, Nirmala loosed an arrow and hit him in the head, killing him.[1]
