Ite was a horse companion that accompanied Rin, a local Japanese woman living in Kii during the late Sengoku period.

Biography

In 1582, the horse was found near a lone hut after having escaped the woes of a battle. It was approached by a woman named Rin and her friend and mentor, samurai and Kakushiba ikki member Yasuke. Together, they tamed the wild horse and brought it back to the hut. Within their time together, Rin soon began riding the horse with Yasuke's help and promised to train riding before naming the horse Ite.[1] Afterwards, Ite became accustomed to live with Rin at her home going forward.[2]
