In 215 BCE,[2] a treasure case containing a talisman with seemingly magical powers was being kept in the emperor's bedroom in the palace.[3] Nie Jing, an agent who secretly oversaw the Department of Immortality,[4] plotted the destruction of Jade Spring Village and its youxia.[5][6] To that end, she devised a false flag operation where they would be misled into stealing the talisman and provoking reprisal by the Qin.
