The Sunken Temple of Pnepheros was a half-submerged temple ruin located west of Karanis, dedicated to the crocodile gods Pnepheros and Sobek.

In 48 BCE, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa visited the temple while investigating a trail of torture towards Egyptians living in the Faiyum. There, he recovered a shipment of payment made by The Butcher meant for soldiers sationed in Karanis.[1]
