Stone Dog was dog of 10th century Swedish farmer Östen Jorundsson.

He was trampled by a cow as a puppy but came out of the incident completely unscathed, leading Jorundsson's thrall, Arne the Dane, to remark that the dog must have a head of stone, giving Stone Dog his name.[1]
