They call me many things: Murderer. Cutthroat. Thief. But you may call me Rothenburg.

This article is about a subject that lacks an official name and is known only by its nickname, title, or alias.

Rothenburg is an undercover informant for the Assassin Brotherhood working from inside Abstergo Industries.

Biography[edit | edit source]

As a spy for the Assassins, Rothenburg was trusted by the Assassin leader Gavin Banks because they never asked for anything in return for their information, and if they were ever to do so, Gavin would terminate their operation. After an extended period of time without liaison, Rothenburg resumed contact in late 2016 when they alerted Griffin to the kidnapping of several American teenagers by the Templars.[1]

They later contacted Gavin again about Griffin's hideout being compromised and incoming Abstergo guards coming to ambush him, Owen Meyers, and Javier Mondragón.[2] With the race for the Trident of Eden's Fear Prong underway, Gavin made contact with Rothenburg again, but the latter only informed the Assassins of Isaiah's plans to go to Mongolia to find the prong before cutting communications for safety concerns.[3]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Because of the obvious dangers involved with their operation, Rothenburg's true identity is a secret. Owen suspected that the informant was in fact Cole, an Abstergo field agent who had freed Sebastian Monroe, Owen, and Grace Collins from captivity at the Aerie and secured their transportation to Mongolia. However, when Owen pointed this out to Cole, she expressed cluelessness, with Monroe later explaining that Cole had aided them in order to repay a past debt she owed him.[4]
