Chiron was a centaur and a friend to multiple notable figures in Greek mythology, including the god Apollo.

Biography[edit | edit source]

According to the stories, the Erymanthos Foothills was regarded as a location where centaurs lived.[1] True enough, while on his way to find the Erymanthian Boar, Herakles met the centaurs Pholos[2] and Chiron.[1]

Later on, Chiron tutored Achilles.[1]

According to the story of Cyrene the Huntress, the god Apollo sought Chiron's advice on how to deal with his feelings for the maiden. The centaur supported the god's desire, and thus played his own part in the birth of both Aristaeus as well as the city of Cyrene.[3]

Influence[edit | edit source]

During the 1st century BCE the Medjay Bayek of Siwa found the tomb of the Cyrene the Huntress, and recounted her tale via the inscriptions in the walls, including the part of Chiron.[3]
