A kakurega at Tomiko's Homestead

Kakuregas were secret hideouts or small refuges which held supplies, contracts, and correspondence with the members of the Kakushiba ikki during the late Sengoku period.

History[edit | edit source]

By 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke discovered and established multiple kakuregas across Japan during the late Sengoku period.[1][2]

Main article: Sumoto Kakurega

In 1585, Konatsu, a close ally of Assassin Hattori Hanzō, found and offered the safehouse to Kakushiba ikki member Yasuke for both him and Naoe.[3] After Yasuke rescued Naoe and her mother and Master Assassin Tsuyu, they reconvened at the safehouse.[4] Together, they planned and succeeded in eliminating Yukari[5] and her forces,[6][7][8] recovered the Sword Regalia, and returned all the three Regalia to Emperor Ōgimachi.[9] Naoe and Yasuke later returned to Awaji at the safehouse and met with Konatsu, agreeing to help in her efforts to assassinate the remaining Sanzoku Ippa operatives.[10]
