Sumoto Kakurega

Sumoto Kakurega was a kakurega located in Sumoto in Awaji, Japan. It acted as a safehouse for the Kakushiba ikki and their allies.

In 1585, Konatsu, a close ally of Hattori Hanzō, found and offered the safehouse to Kakushiba ikki member Yasuke.[1] After Yasuke rescued fellow Kakushiba ikki Fujibayashi Naoe and her mother and Master Assassin Tsuyu, they reconvened at the safehouse where Tsuyu remained to recover from her injuries while Naoe and Yasuke sought to retrieve Sword Regalia.[2]

However, Naoe and Yasuke lost the Regalia to the Japanese Templar Kimura Yukari and her forces, the Sanzoku Ippa.[3] Back at the safehouse, they reconsidered their next steps with Tsuyu and planned to take down Kimura's taishō and fellow Templars, Imagawa Tomeji, Nowaki, and Yasuhira.[4]

After the taishō's fell to Naoe and Yasuke,[5][6][7] they spoke with Tsuyu at the safehouse and went about to further weakening Yukari's food supply[8] and weaponry.[9] They also garnered a group of ashigaru to aid in their assault on Iwaya Castle to end Yukari's reign.[10]

With Yukari's death at the hands of Yasuke,[11] the Assassins returned the three Regalia to Emperor Ōgimachi.[12] Naoe and Yasuke later returned to Awaji and met with Konatsu at the safehouse, where she asked them for help in eliminating the remnants of the Sanzoku Ippa, to which the pair agreed. After finding and assassinating the remaining operatives, they returned to and informed Konatsu of their success. Konatsu thanked them and promised to tell the Sengoku clan of their work.[13]
