| == The King's Correspondence == | | ==Chronology of part 2 and 3 of the First Blade== |
| | Hello, I see that you updated the timeline. Thank you for that. I think that we need a debate about the actual date of the event of part 2 and 3 of the First Blade, but I personally speculated that it's occurred at the end of the year 424 BCE. Two reasons, when we saw Darius II, he doesn't present himself as a King and I don't see personally a King kept a child so far from his land. The other reason, during the memory [[Smoke and Fury]], we could find a scroll indicating that they will assassinate Artaxerxes. Historically, the son of Artaxerxes Xerxes II took the throne for 45 days before being killed by the next king Sogdianus who stay a few months before Darius II became king.[[User:Francesco75|Francesco75]] ([[User talk:Francesco75|talk]]) 17:35, May 5, 2020 (UTC) |

| | ::No, it is why I think we need a consensus on this matter. The question of the birth of Elpidios is also in question. We can assume that he didn't need maternal milk as Kassandra go on missions, so he is at least six months. So he was born at least in mid 424 BCE. Plus the nine months of pregnancy. So it makes 15 months before December 424 BCE for part 2 of the First Blade, so at least September 425 BCE, it could happen after the battle of Pylos.[[User:Francesco75|Francesco75]] ([[User talk:Francesco75|talk]]) 21:20, May 5, 2020 (UTC) |

|
| Oh, yeah, you're right. Sorry about that, I knew that was the date Allende was deposed, but I also thought that was a reference to the 9/11 Attacks. Although, there's also a part where the female voice is naming dates where something bad (sometimes, confirmed to be orchestrated by the Templars) occured, (i.e, 1431 - execution of Joan of Arc; 1939 - beginning of WW2, etc...), and 2001 is named. | | :::::Yeah in the novel, Kass mentions stuff like the Battle of Delium and the Athenian loss there while she was in prison although she was also out in time for The Knights. I did read game memory and yeah it does seem a much shorter stay but either way she stays in Athens to resist Kleon in the following months. As for Artaxerxes it’s mentioned in game that he’s succeeded by his brother Hystaspes not Xerxes II. Historically Artaxerxes is thought to have had Hystaspes killed so like I said due to the uchronia we can’t really use historical Achaemenid succession. | True, but it's speculative to say that the Templars orchestrated it, as it's not outright stated. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 12:39, August 6, 2015 (UTC)
| | ::::::Kassandra could stay in Athens to resist Kleon but she could also travel through Greece to attack the Cult of Kosmos (Ezio went en mission around Italy during the Liberation of Rome). And historically Artarxexer was succeeded by two other kings before Darius. But I read again the dialogue when Artabanus met Darius, it seemed they speak as he was alive. So it happened before 424 BCE. |
|
| |
|
| Yeah, I understand. [[User:AllianceScoutAiothai|AllianceScoutAiothai]] ([[User talk:AllianceScoutAiothai|talk]]) 22:21, August 6, 2015 (UTC)
| | ::::::We can have a better chronology that could encompass the novel, the game and historical events. In 429 BCE, Kassandra met Artabanus and Natakas. Between 428 and 426 BCE, Kassandra tracked the Peloponnesian league as Pausanias was historically deposed in 426 BCE. Kassandra participated in the battle of Pylos in 425 BCE and stay in prison between 425 and 424 BCE. So the event of the Legacy of the first blade part 2 and 3 could happen between 426 and 425 BCE, after the death of Pausanias and the battle of Pylos.[[User:Francesco75|Francesco75]] ([[User talk:Francesco75|talk]]) 09:03, May 18, 2020 (UTC) |

| | Hi Sima,<br>I don't know if you're aware of this and just got busy, or if it slipped your mind when editing, but the "Young adult novels" submenu in the [MediaWiki:Wiki-navigation] still uses redirects for both ''AC: Fragments – The Blade of Aizu'' and ''The Highlands Children''. Also, although no official title has been given yet for ''Les Sorcières des Landes'', it apparently was mistranslated as "The Forest Witches", despite the correct word for that being "forêt" while Landes refers to either a prairie or the Landes woods (though the woods seem to be the more likely option given the cover art). – [[User:Darman36|<span style="font-family:Old English Text MT;font-size:15px;color:#">Darman</span>]] ([[User talk:Darman36|<span style="font-family:Viner Hand ITC;color:#">talk</span>]]) 02:35, 11 May 2021 (UTC) |

In similar fashion, Sigurd mediated disputes and delivered judgements as ''[[jarl]]'' and had his right arm severed at the elbow, like Týr the god of war and justice who lost his own arm to the wolf [[Fenrir]].</blockquote> |

| Well I would like to add to this that Desmond and Clay are only stated to be descendants of Adam, not Eve, and that Galina is stated nowhere to be a descendant of Eve (if her mother was ''talking'' to Eve than she wouldn't have been reliving her memories. This is not factual). There's a reason I dropped biology though. I'm not quite sure I understand it anyway, only a person with a full line of males from you to Adam and Eve has a part of their DNA? So someone with no female ancestors in their bloodline? If Adam or Eve is your descendant, you carry part of their DNA with you. What makes Desmond so special, is that he has a lot of ancestors with high concentrations of Precursor DNA, resulting in Desmond having a significantly higher concentration than your average human. We know nothing about Galina's potential Precursor lineage, so I find it hard to comment on that. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 08:34, August 13, 2015 (UTC)

| The Female's DNA is ALWAYS passed, no matter if is the descendant is a boy or a girl, the "X" is always present, and everyone who descends from Eve, has her DNA, Including Clay and Desmond. The thing about the male's DNA is that the "Y" is only passed down when the child (Abel or Seth) is a male, because women's chromosomes are 100% provided by the mother. So, to get the "Y" passed down, a full chain of males is necesary. That's why we can't play as a female in Desmond's genetic tree. And that does not means that Desmond's ancestors could not have daughter, if there is a son before or after, it does not matter. Example: Marcello and Flavia. Jennifer and Haytham. What made Desmond and Clay special was that they had Adam's DNA, not just Eve's one like everyone who descends from them... but not only Adam and Eve, as you mentioned, Clay and Desmond had a lot of ancestor with high concentratioN of Precursor DNA, Adam was just "One more to the list" [[User:DipsonDP|DipsonDP]] ([[User talk:DipsonDP|talk]]) 21:17, August 13, 2015 (UTC)
| | == New to the Wiki == |
| :''"Each person normally has one pair of sex chromosomes in each cell. Females have two X chromosomes, whereas males have one X and one Y chromosome. Both males and females retain one of their mother's X chromosomes, and females retain their second X chromosome from their father. Since the father retains his X chromosome from his mother, a human female has one X chromosome from her paternal grandmother (father's side), and one X chromosome from her mother." ''

| But Subject 1 does not descends from Adam, and if he did, he would not have his DNA. Desmond could had relived the memories of a woman in his Family Tree, but that woman would't have Adam's DNA. And we dont need an statement, the "X" is always passes, like i said, everyone who descends from Adam and Eve, have, at least, Eve's DNA. | :I think the basic gist of this is that for someone to relive Adam's memories, they would need to come from a bloodline with a chain of male descendants that leads directly to him. If at any point in the bloodline where the chain of male descendants is broken by only females being born, that last male in the chain is the one that Adam's genetic memories are accessible from, as a woman being born in that chain would bring their paternal grandmother's X chromosome to take the place of the Y-chromosomal Adam gene (the Y gene that traces back to Adam). | |
| | |
| I'd like to step down as a Staff member of the Wiki, as I've become distracted by other games, and I haven't been putting the time into the Wiki as should be expected of my position. I feel it wouldn't be fair to withhold the opportunity from one of the more active members of the wiki, and to be fair, the drive to come back isn't as stong as it used to be.
| |
| | |
| I'll still come and edit every so often, but it might not be a frequent occurrence. Therefore, if I'm to nominate anyone to take my place, I'd have to recommend that Crook and Bovkaffe be treated equally as deserving of the position. This aside, I'd like to thank you, Nesty and all of the other editors here for their hard work and their consideration and co-operation in helping maintain this place both during my time here and in my absence as well.

| == Instruments of the First Will icon. ==
| |
| | |
| Hi, Master Sima Yi, I may have jumped the gun. I was half-way through adding an icon to the eraicon template when I realized I didn't consult with anyone. So, here goes: Should we have an era-icon for the Instruments of the First Will? As seen in the recent uploads I kinda already made an icon and uploaded it. Reasons for the icon: The instruments seem way more important than the Hermeticists and we have an icon for them, and moving forward there seems that there could be even more Instruments. So yeah. -- [[User:Zero-ELEC|Zero-ELEC]] ([[User talk:Zero-ELEC|talk]]) 03:24, November 2, 2015 (UTC)

| So... I'm not really sure how to go about this. I made several videos of all of the Reconstructed Data from AC: Syndicate at the request of a redditor, and then went on to transcribe all of them into plain text. Is this something that you all would be interested in having posted here? It's about 44,000 characters (~7800 words), so I didn't want to just dump it on the wiki without asking. Please let me know, either here or via reddit message (/u/PyroKep).

| ==Staff position==
| |
| Hey, Sima. It's been quite a while, so I hope all is well. I've been mulling over how to word this for a few days now, but I've decided it'd be best to just come out with it.
| |
| | |
| I'd like to surrender my position on the staff board. My reasoning for this is that I've taken up quite a few other interests that keep my attention away from here, and my priorities have definitely shifted significantly. I haven't been devoting nearly as much time as should be expected of someone in my position, and it wouldn't be right to keep such a position since there are people more deserving who could easily take my place. My urge to edit here is much weaker than it once was, and I don't even feel the urge to play many of the games anymore. I've been infrequent in visiting for almost a year now, and that is a bad image for a staff member to send.
| |
| | |
| Perhaps I'll continue to edit, but if I do, it will likely be very infrequent. As I said, my priorities have shifted. If there is one thing I say before I go, it is that I think Bovkaffe is definitely deserving of replacing me. He has accomplished a great deal in the time he's been here - more than I ever did. I have immense respect for him, and I firmly believe that he would be a perfect addition to the staff.
| |
| | |
| I wish you and everyone else the very best in the future, and I am confident that you will all continue to keep this place in great shape. It's been a good three and a half years, but it's time for me to move on. Take care. --{{User:The Crimson Eagle/sig}} 18:00, December 3, 2015 (UTC)

| ==Charles Lee==
| |
| I have a question about Charles Lee. Being an admin, you probably know more about the series than I do. When was Charles Lee a member of the British Rite? I saw that he was included as a member, but as far as I know he was only an ally of the British Rite, and then an ally of the Colonial Rite, and then a member of the Colonial Rite. Just wondering if I missed something.[[User:Hugues de Payens|Hugues de Payens]] ([[User talk:Hugues de Payens|talk]]) 16:26, January 8, 2016 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| His name was on a list of British Templars in ''Syndicate'' hence why we list him as such as well. Possible explanations for that could be that when he was abducted into the Templar Order by Haytham it was only yet in his capacity as a member of the British Rite, and that the Colonial Rite wasn't yet 'officially' established until sometime later. Or, at that time when those colonies were still part of the British Empire, Colonial Templars were also seen as British Templars. I don't know what the writers' intention was with that exactly. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 17:18, January 8, 2016 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| <p class="MsoNormal">I did notice that the list was simply titled British Templars, it did not specify the British Rite. I know Lee is a British Templar, in that he is both British and a Templar. So to me he was a British Templar, however he wasn’t a member of the British Rite. I also had the same kind of question about Maria Thorpe. She was a British Assassin, but I don’t remember her being part of the British Brotherhood. So again, to me she was a British Assassin, but she was not a member of the British Brotherhood (unless I missed something). I think those lists were just a list of people that they traced their DNA back to England, as they don’t specify the British Brotherhood/Rite. But I guess you’re right, we don’t know what the writers were thinking.[[User:Hugues de Payens|Hugues de Payens]] ([[User talk:Hugues de Payens|talk]]) 17:32, January 8, 2016 (UTC)</p>

| Undoing an edit you did not back up with any valid source and thus made in violation of our [[Assassin's Creed Wiki:Sourcing|sourcing policy]] is not "treating you badly", it's you treating the wiki badly. Ubisoft has confirmed it's not coming out until after the stream. I can also quite frankly based on your [http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Kanieht%C3%AD:io?diff=prev&oldid=626089 previous] [http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Jacques_de_Molay%27s_advisor?diff=prev&oldid=635557 edits] here that you're an obvious troll and most certainly not a Ubisoft employee. I'd put the <nowiki>{{Delete}}</nowiki> template up myself, but the ''Staff'' page says only Admins can delete stuff, and since I'm new here, I didn't want to potentially overstep my editing powers, such as they are.<br />Cheers, [[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 02:58, February 24, 2016 (UTC)

| == Moving "Temple of the Sand" ==
| |
| | |
| There is an article to a memory in ''Altaïr's Chronicles'' named [[Temple of Sand (memory)|Temple of Sand]]. The article on the subject itself was named [[Temple of the Sand]]. This is incorrect as the name for that location is given in the above memory and in the map (and in all other cases known as the "Desert Temple"). I believe that the user that created the page might've found that the page "Temple of Sand" already existing and to resolve the conflict hastily decided to modify the name. I have just moved Temple of Sand to "Temple of Sand (memory)" to make way to move "Temple of the Sand" to the proper name, but the system does not allow me to move "Temple of the Sand" because apparently the title "Temple of Sand" is already a page that redirects to "Temple of Sand (memory)" something I'm rather confused by. I'm guessing to fix this, I would move all content from "Temple of the Sand" to the page currently serving as a redirect ("Temple of Sand"), and then have "Temple of the Sand" redirect to "Temple of Sand." But, since I feel like I've already messed up, I wanted to double-check with you. [[User:Sol Pacificus|Sol Pacificus]] ([[User talk:Sol Pacificus|talk]]) 20:16, March 4, 2016 (UTC)

| When you moved the page "Temple of Sand" to "Temple of Sand (memory)" you left the option "Leave a redirect behind" checked. I'll delete it. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 20:24, March 4, 2016 (UTC)
| |
| :Thank you very much. When I moved "Temple of the Sand" to "Temple of Sand" just now though, I didn't see any option concerning whether to leave a redirect link behind or not, only whether to follow the page. | Master Sima, it's Darman. I'm working on [[Alonzo Batilla's treasures]], and a ''large'' number of the artifacts have real-life counterparts e.g. [http://www.adventures-inc.com/cortes-shipwreck.htm here's] [http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/File:ACP_Treasure_Sacred_Mask.png the mask], and [http://www.britishmuseum.org/research/collection_online/collection_object_details.aspx?objectId=8871&partId=1 here's] [http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/File:ACP_Treasure_Sacrificial_Knife.png the knife], &c. Do I put the artifacts links in the image caption, or as a source/<nowiki><ref></nowiki>? --[[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 16:12, March 16, 2016 (UTC)

| |
| Master Sima, it's Dar. We talked on IRC about the subtitles for the AC4 AE files. As per your advice, I did a test transcript for the [[AE files:"Devils of the Caribbean" Teaser|"Devils of the Caribbean"]]. I think it looks good [[Abstergo Entertainment research analyst's personal files|here]], but that's my opinion. What are your thoughts? --[[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 12:15, March 22, 2016 (UTC)

| | |
| I'm still not entirely sold on the asterisk use, nor do I see the point in mentioning "Narrator" when it's just one person speaking. On the other hand, when there is more than one person speaking not using either would become an issue. But yes, aside from that it looks quite alright. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 16:03, March 22, 2016 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| :Ah, sorry about that. I meant "Voiceover" (I styled it after the ''Project Legacy'' Intro videos), but I see your point; will correct in future. Aside from removing the bullet, can I continue this with the other files?
| |
| :EDIT: Do I use [colon,bullet] for when there's dialogue for 2+ people? The scripts for Subjects 0 & 1 are '''''really''''' long, over 2 pgs. --[[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 23:38, March 22, 2016 (UTC)

| This has been coming for a while now. More so after I left to avoid ''India'' spoilers. I thought I was just in another slump, but I feel it's lasting longer than it should. I've lost the "spark" that once drove me to edit. As such, I feel I should be removed from Staff. I'll still be around, just not quite as often. And if you guys need me for a chat on the IRC, you can still shoot me a message. Thank you for giving me this opportunity all those months back.

| I'd also like to be removed from the social media site. I'm glad Crook was brought on board; he's been doing an amazing job. | ==Nav box==
| |
| Thought I'd ask you since you created the boxes: why are the [[Template:Templars nav|Templar_nav]] and [[Template:Assassins nav|Assassins_nav]] templates still here? Few pages link to either, and as you said on the Templar_nav talk pg, they're not really used anywhere. Should they be unlinked from the pages? Removed/deleted might be too far, but they're just sitting there... --[[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 01:20, April 5, 2016 (UTC)

| Well I wouldn't really be opposed to using them personally, don't really see much wrong with them but they could be a little more expansive. Or do you disagree? -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 16:37, April 5, 2016 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| :No, I think expansion is great. I was wondering if you had plans for them (not that I was going to do anything), since they're just kind of "there". I think the only downside to expanding is that the ''Allies & Puppets'' section could get very crowded. Oh, and currently, the names in the sections of both boxes seem to mush together. Could a line seperator-thingy be added to make the section distinction clearer? [[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 23:37, April 5, 2016 (UTC)

| |
| | |
| :OK. I was thinking of a separator thingy like the kind used in the game nav boxes, the white line (or something similar). Would the box go above or below the game boxes at the end of a page? I think above? [[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 01:40, April 8, 2016 (UTC)

| | |
| :I'd asked because it was your project at some time, and now I'm adopting it. I take it we add it to the respective Assassin/Templar "Notable Members" profiles, but do we add it to all the pages listed in the subsections? --[[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 00:08, May 8, 2016 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| What do you mean by subsections? Add it to every page in the Assassins and Templars category? I think that would be the most sensible. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 10:37, May 8, 2016 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| :I mean: Obviously, we add the navbars to "Notable Members" of each Order, and I'm assuming it'd be added to the pages in "Affiliated Groups", "Ranks", & "Other", but do we add it to all the people listed in "Puppets & Allies"? Some may interpret it as Person X was an Assassin/Templar... --[[User:Darman36|Darman]] ([[User talk:Darman36|talk]]) 01:56, May 9, 2016 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| Fair point, though I don't think we should make it into a really big deal. Anyway who takes a closer look at the template will see why it is included. Matter of fact, anyone who's taken a closer look at the article will understand. Let's not assume people will skim over the entire article to find information, and just take a look at what navboxes are featured without taking a look at the navbox's content to obtain information. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 15:28, May 15, 2016 (UTC)

| == Branches ==
| |
| | |
| Hey,
| |
| | |
| I didn't think that the old branches still exist. I mean, there are Cells with leaders, but they are not specifically tied up to some country, like Desmond's one, what are they? Italian, American, Worldwide? Cells' locations come and go, as you can see that a Cell in France (The one established by Eric Cooper) disappeared after the attack to Abstergo's Phoenix Project Lab (In Bishop's cells map, at the beginning of Syndicate). It would appear that they just moved to London, which makes me think that branches no longer exists. Half of Japan's one moved to China, Georgia's moved to Russia.
| |
| | |
| So... What do you think? [[User:DipsonDP|DipsonDP]] ([[User talk:DipsonDP|talk]]) 21:39, July 29, 2016 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| Whether or not the branches still exist in the modern day isn't relevant to the categories' existence. I created the categories to contain all members of the specific branches, not as a category that just blends characters' nationalities and affiliations into one regardless of whether they belong to said branch. That is also what the category descriptions specifically note. But I already undid my edit because the beginning of ''Syndicate'' labels Shaun a member of the British Assassins. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 21:45, July 29, 2016 (UTC)

| ==Petition idea for Hungarian fans!==
| |
| Good day to you Mentore!
| |
| | |
| My name is Attila and I am the hungarian Assassin's Creed Wikia Administrator! I came here and wrote this message because i have an idea, but i need the "manpower" to do it.
| |
| | |
| So, i spoke with one of our national company (who translated the series books) called FUMAX, and they gave me some information about the Assassin's Creed comic. They had said they tried to get some copies from '''Assassin's Creed: Awakening''', but after a relatively long time they had abandoned it because the Ubisoft is "suffer" lack of interest.
| |
| | |
| What do you think about it? This is good idea to make a petition?
| |
| | |
| Please write your thoughts about it! I think this deserve a try!
| |
| | |
| This is the situation! Please help our community!
| |
| | |
| Have a good day!

| Hello! This sounds like something that would be worth a shot, but what is it you want me to do? -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 09:37, August 26, 2016 (UTC)

| |
| | |
| Hello! I just speak with our company, FUMAX and they said in the past they tried with petition, and nearly 20000 people sign it but the Ubisoft does not show a sign or answer it. So, the plan is over. Have a good day. -- 12:06, August 29, 2016 (UTC)

| == Expanding Character Articles ==
| |
| | |
| Hey, Master Sima Yi, I had been working through many articles concerning ''Altaïr's Chronicles'', revising many as I went, and expanding on the articles of many characters. Most of them were of very low quality or at times incomplete, but when I at last struck upon [[Adha]], which ''is'' complete, I wasn't sure if I should expand on it. I noticed that a lot of articles for major characters summarize more than I have been doing with the articles of minor characters. I wasn't sure if there was a specific standard for the conciseness of character articles. With articles of minor characters, I felt free to be as detailed and comprehensive as possible since I did not wish to leave them as stubs, but I am not sure if our policy is the case with major characters whose articles are not at the threat of being stubs. [[User:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#990000;font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:17px">'''Sol Pacificus'''</span>]][[User talk:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#D4AF37;font-family:Californian FB;font-size:11px">(Cyfiero)</span>]] 22:46, September 24, 2016 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| Sorry for the late reply, life has been pretty hectic. I'm personally not too fond of detailing every single movement a character did but to just tell a story understandably without flooding a paragraph with too many pointless details. Expanding is fine, but when all about a character is said then that's that. The article doesn't need to be elongated to meet some specific standard if everything is already said. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 13:39, October 11, 2016 (UTC)

| == Monastic Knights Templar? ==
| |
| | |
| So, I was looking through our list of [[:Category:Templar Rites|Templar Rites]] and one is very noticeably absent: the order itself ''before'' it was torn down from its official position by [[Clement V]] and [[Philip IV of France]], when it was known as the Knights Templar. Should this "rite" get a name? It seems like it should, considering the Hashashin have one under [[Levantine Assassins]], and technically even the modern Templars do under [[Abstergo Industries]] and [[Inner Sanctum of the Templar Order]].
| |
| | |
| If so, what would the name be? [[Knights Templar]]?

| | |
| I think we've deliberately left it out because at that point there likely was no such thing as "rites". It was just what it was, the monastic order, and once de Molay sent his advisors out into the world to globalize their order, the rites were created. -- {{User:Master Sima Yi/sig}} 10:29, October 30, 2016 (UTC)

| == Corruption section in Assassins article ==
| |
| | |
| Hey Master Sima Yi, I probably should have contacted others for their opinion a while ago on this matter. There is an ongoing debate between another user and me in regards to the "Corruption" section in the Assassins article, and we may have reached an impasse. The debate is the lengthiest discussion you'd find on this wiki, I think ._. ... and it extends into my own talk page and that user's talk page, and as such is probably extremely difficult to follow, so here is a summary of the dispute:
| |
| | |
| A few years ago, a user created the "Controversy" section in the article because he felt that Assassins, as the protagonists, are viewed too positively by the audience and thus the article should "balance" this out by incorporating criticisms of them. Unfortunately, the section was nothing but vitriolic ranting, violating the policy of no original research and NPOV wile also being unsourced. When I revamped part of the article, I wanted to remove this section outright, but other users maintained that it should stand because the article could benefit from posing an opposing perspective of the Assassins to neutralize their moral ground. I personally thought that having a biased counter-perspective doesn't really promote NPOV, and rather there should be balance throughout the article, and this is at the core of of the disagreement. Even so, I worked with it, changing it to "Corruption" to explain cases of corrupt Assassins instead, such as Assassins of ''Rogue'' or Mackandal.
| |
| | |
| But predictably, this led to a debate over which cases constitute "corruption" or not, especially in regards to Ezio's actions in ''Revelations''. Even using the term "corruption" in the first place, I am not entirely comfortable with, and a more objective term might be "cases of violations to the creed".
| |
| | |
| We should be doing our best to avoid original research. The entire section itself, or the concept of it, may pretty much violate that altogether.
| |
| | |
| My proposal is that ''if'' we are to retain this section, however, we should only state cases which are explicitly cited as "violations" or "corruption" and/or cases that served as major plot points, such as Al Mualim, ''Rogue'' Assassins, Pierre Bellec, and Jack the Ripper. Cases that people may consider to be contradictions to the creed, but are neither explicitly cited nor presented as such in source material in a "Behind the Scenes"/"Trivia" section. Ezio causing that firestorm in Derinkuyu that killed untold innocents is a good example of this. I think it is a case that people find indisputably a contradiction to the tenet of not to kill innocents, but it's not cited as corruption or violation, and I think it is better for consistency to include it in the BtS/Trivia as an OOU contradiction instead. Readers can decide for themselves whether this was hypocrisy on Ezio's part or developers' oversight, while we avoid inserting our own interpretations (original research). Other cases that users keep debating, which are just disputable, should either not be included, or it can also be put down in the Trivia section as contradictions, maybe even in just a simple sentence. I think if they're debatable though, then it shows that they're not factual enough to be objectively called "corruption".
| |
| | |
| If you read the section, which I have written, I really fear that the wording is biased, especially in regards to ''Rogue''. I felt pressured to extrapolate and explain how it's "corrupt", but I think that forces us to make too many assumptions.
| |
| | |
| The two of us alone can't decide on the matter. What are your thoughts? Or is this better moved to the forums? Should it be put to a vote? [[User:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#990000;font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:17px">'''Sol Pacificus'''</span>]][[User talk:Sol Pacificus|<span style="color:#D4AF37;font-family:Californian FB;font-size:11px">(Cyfiero)</span>]] 17:55, October 30, 2016 (UTC)
