Mucel (died 870s), also known as The Lathe, was an Anglo-Saxon shipwright, inventor and a member of the Order of the Ancients's Wardens of Wealth sect in the 9th century, holding the title Preost. Mucel also carried along another title among people, which was Heir to What He Tells, and often frequented the docks of Buckingham in Oxenefordscire.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Mucel was introduced to the Order by The Anvil, as Mucel was working under a young Æthelred. The Order saw high promise in Mucel, due to his crafting of ships and his creations of wooden torture devices.[1]
The title, The Lathe, was discovered by the Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan from a particular clue. This first clue dictated one to defeat the dice champion at the inn in Buckingham, in northern Oxenefordscire for further information of this member's whereabouts. After defeating the dice champion, a second clue stated the one must ponder around a sealed chamber in Eatun Barn, east of Oxeneforda. Within the chamber, a note was found near a pile of rocks and pebbles. This last clue revealed both the location and name of The Lathe: Mucel. Mucel was apparently shipbuilding at the docks at Buckingham. At the docks, an idle Mucel sat near his naval materials. However, Mucel was soon assassinated by Eivor.[1]
After his death, Mucel had on his personal effects a different clue that led to information about The Ash-Spear. The clue detailed that one must investigate the Ruined Tower northeast of Northwic in East Anglia and find a note on top of a bandit-guarded cart.[1]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The first clue that Eivor receives for identifying Mucel can be obtained from assassinating either Gunilla, The Adze at Repton's docks in Ledecestrescire, or the Zealot Horsa, who patrols in northern Oxenefordscire. It may also be found in a small chest in a library on the perimeter of the Leah Villa Garrison.
- Assassinating Mucel may provide a clue to the identity of Gifle, The Ash-Spear, if it has not already been obtained elsewhere.
- Like other inductions and rises through the Order, Mucel came to be part of the Order through another member, who was The Anvil, yet this relationship corresponds more to a fellowship rather than an upbringing.
