Leah Villa Garrison

The Leah Villa Garrison was a former Roman villa in Oxenefordscire, England which was converted into a military garrison during the Anglo-Saxon period. Prior to its conversion, the Oxenefordscire ealdorman Rothulf envisioned to restore and rebuild the villa to how it was before prior to the Roman exodus.

Circa 874, the Mercian thegns Sherwin, Holt and Brant were brought to the garrison to stand trial before their execution for suspected treachery against the shire and Lady Eadwyn, the wife of the late ealdorman Theodric. At the request of thegn Geadric, the Vikings Eivor Varinsdottir and Sigurd Styrbjornsson, and the Hidden One Basim stormed the garrison in time to halt the execution, freeing the thegns from their would-be fates.[1]

After these events, Eivor returned and explored the garrison, recovering a piece of robe belonging to the 5th century Hidden One Vitus.[2]
