Escape the Lost Pyramid is a virtual reality escape room created by Blue Byte as Ubisoft Escape Games. First released in July 2018 at eight different locations, it has since expanded to include dozens more.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
February 1928.
An expedition led by Sir Beldon Frye disappears somewhere in the Sinai Peninsula. A team of four and a dozen local porters were looking for the Lost Pyramid of Nebka… Or more precisely, "something" that should have been there. They were never seen again. Using the simulation reconstructed from their DNA memory, your team will put themselves in the shoes of the explorers. Find out what happened to the expedition. And more importantly, locate what they were looking for.[1]
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
The game is meant for between 2 to 4 players and is expected to have a playtime of 1 hour.[1] Each player dons either an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive VR headset and has their own tile to walk around on that is roughly the size of one's physical walking space, although they also can teleport with the game's simple one-button control scheme.[2]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The framing of this experience seems faulty as, if Frye's party was never seen again, it should have been impossible to acquire their DNA from any time after the excavation.
