Actaeon (died 48 BCE), also known as The Vulture, was an Egyptian nobleman and a member of the Order of the Ancients during the reign of Ptolemy XIII. He used his influence among Alexandria's elite to rally support for Ptolemy in the civil war against his sister, Cleopatra VII.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 48 BCE, Actaeon was killed by Aya,[1] who had been tracking the Order in Alexandria following the death of her son Khemu.[2] Aya and her husband Bayek mistakenly believed Actaeon to be one of the five masked Order members responsible for their son's death during a failed attempt to access an Isu vault in Siwa, due to being unaware at the time that the Order comprised more members.[1]
After learning of Actaeon's assassination, one of his "brothers" known by the cryptonym of "the Ram", Ktesos, sought to avenge his death. He tracked Aya to her home, where she killed him instead.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Actaeon shares his name with the Thebian hero, best known for angering Artemis and dying as a result of it.
The images for Ktesos and Actaeon in the target menu are switched around, with Ktesos' image being named as "The Vulture" while Actaeon is named as "The Ram". This error can be deduced by comparing the descriptions given to the targets, which mentions the Vulture as having died with his Order mask on, which does not match the corpse found in Aya's home, while the Ram was described as managing to have tracked her down.
