Vikings is the first season in the Echoes of History podcast series. Originally created in late 2020 as the stand-alone audio drama "Echoes of Valhalla" to promote the then-upcoming release of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, its five episodes covered aspects of Viking culture and their invasion of England's assorted kingdoms. The first episode debuted on 29 September[4] and the remaining episodes were released every day or two until the finale aired on 5 October.[5] On 24 March 2022,[6] to tie in with Valhalla's downloadable expansion Dawn of Ragnarök, five episodes about Norse mythology were unveiled that loosely adapted parts of the Gylfaginning poems in Snorri Sturluson's 13th-century text, the Prose Edda. To differentiate it from the new media, the season was renamed to "Vikings".

Echoes of Valhalla invites listeners to relive the epic adventures of Scandinavian warriors invading England with a unique audio podcast experience that has the feel of a documentary series. The documentary aims to showcase the different ways of the Viking society including military strategy, ship building, and the role of women.

Echoes of Valhalla podcast series is divided into five episodes of 15 minutes each and offers the first immersive audio historical documentary series in audio for Assassin's Creed. Comedians, well-known experts, and reconstructed scenes will bring to life the glorious eras of the Vikings, as you have never heard before.[7]
