Disruptive edits[edit source]
If you disagree with the edits, then argue your points in the talk page rather than start an edit war. - Soranin (talk) 21:24, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
Hello, I would like to repeat that you must desist from edit warring. Disputes over edits should be communicated via talk pages. Simply reverting edits again and again without explanation is highly disruptive to the wiki. I understand that the onus to provide an explanation does go both ways and that the other editors could have clarified why yours were reverted, and I will be letting them know this, but this does not give you license to perpetuate the cycle, and from what I can tell, your edits were in error. That is, of course, unless you can explain otherwise. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 17:31, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
To clarify, I think it is misleading to classify a county as a former "Celtic", "Nordic", "Greek" colony on the basis of that country having settlements founded by people who are of Celtic or Nordic descent. For instance, while southern Italy does have cities which originated as Greek colonies, categorizing Italy as a former Greek colony would suggest that the whole of Italy was a Greek colony or that the Italian (or Roman) civilization was founded by Greek colonists which is untrue. There are also other errors which are far more stark. England came about from the invasions of various Germanic peoples which displaced the Celts. Those Celts eventually became the Welsh. By this token, it is not just misleading to categorize England as a Celtic colony, it is also fallacious to categorize Wales as a Celtic colony because the Celts are native to that land.
These are but three examples. I am also not convinced of the organizational merits of having categories for countries that are "former", related to an ethnic group, and a "colony". It just seems way too specific to me. In the context of European imperialism, which are highly significant to modern history, categories referring the former European colonial empires makes sense but not this.
