Page topicality[edit source]

I do not see why this site needs to have a page on a pop band just because they made a single inspired by a game and later used in a promo trailer. The only musicians who have pages here are the series' many composers, but they were actually contracted to score the game(s), while Einar Selvik alone also provided the voice work for Bragi and maybe a dwarven skald. As I understand, this band only implemented some music Angelides had already written in their song, they did not add anything to the game. Similarly, I do not think we need pages on Woodkid, Leonard Cohen, or Lorde, just because their songs appeared in trailers for Revelations, Origins, or Unity. – Darman (talk) 03:15, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

I would need to take more time to think of my position on this, but in the meantime, I just wanted to shoot you a quick reminder that when you open a deletion proposal, to make sure that you add the corresponding header notice to the page (and vice versa, if you add such a notice on the page, you should be simultaneously opening the discussion on the talk page). It's an official collaboration with Mirage so I don't see why this encyclopedia for AC content wouldn't include it (same for music Ubisoft licensed for the trailers). Vetinari(Appointment) 09:26, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for the reminder, Sol. I did forget to put the {Propose delete} template up.

While crossover gear packs like "Destiny 2 Weapon Pack" or the non-canon Watch Dogs 2 events featuring Darcy Clarkson have pages because either the objects appear as Animus mods here or the happenings there reference people and things in this series, I do not feel like all collaborations need their own article. To my memory, these are usually just noted in "Behind the scenes" or plainly stated to have existed and maybe linked externally as the "Collaborations" section does on the series page. To me, it feels almost like a tribute video similar to what Gavin Dunne/"Miracle of Sound" has done with his AC-inspired songs. Indeed, its full title is "Mirage (For Assassin's Creed Mirage)", and unless I missed it, I do not believe it actually appears in-game or its credits. It is not used for the media so much as dedicated to it like a letter, e.g. "For NAME". It certainly is not in any of the soundtracks, so I was under the impression that the band just used Mirage to help promote their new single.

I will note, though, that all the other artists' songs were already made before Ubisoft used them. Woodkid's "Iron" was his first single from 28 March 2011, months before Revelations released in November; Leonard Cohen's "You Want It Darker" was recorded between April 2015–July 2016 and later included in his final album of the same name from 21 October 2016, almost exactly a year before Origins released; and Lorde's cover of the 1985 song "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" was done for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire's soundtrack from November 2013, which was almost exactly a year before Unity released. – Darman (talk) 05:25, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

I think this page is fine. I mean we have one for Rob Zombie and other artists contracted out by Ubisoft. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 06:07, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
