Date?[edit source]
What indicates this memory as occurring in October 1759? I believe it could be after the Battle of Quiberon Bay.
It begins with Shay 'running into' James Cook (whether it has happenstance or Shay's intention), so it's not necessarily soon after the previous memory. It ends with an urgency to find Cook, who said he'd be near Newfoundland, for his assistance in decoding De La Verendrye's travel plans.
Shay was present for the Battle of Quiberon Bay in November 1759, but why would he sail across the Atlantic to join that when DLV was closing in on the precursor site and his main lead (Cook) was his urgent next destination? Is he stupid? LePhantomChick N (talk) 00:25, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
- Sol and I have been talking about this recently. We want to do a review of dates in the memory infoboxes and make sure they are cited or if they are derived by other means have a footnote explaining how. But also yes; Shay is big dumb. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 01:10, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
