Talk:Den Defense
You know what I think is funny about the den defense? Its that when the templars are trying to break down a barricade, the others just stand there and cheer them on. (Death4 (talk) 18:07, April 26, 2014 (UTC))
OOU vs. IU term[edit source]
Are we sure that Den Defense should be treated as a term the Assassins used in-universe and not an out-of-universe gameplay term? Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 02:42, June 18, 2017 (UTC)
- It's been a long time since I played Revelations. Is there an alternative we could use? Crook The Constantine District 08:19, June 18, 2017 (UTC)
- I'm fairly certain no. I suppose whether the name sounds OOU or not, there should be an IU article on this. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 09:18, June 18, 2017 (UTC)
OOU Trivia[edit source]
I've been compiling in depth descriptions of den defense for the last 2 years, the ONLY in depth descriptions and someone just deleted it all, after i updated it. Why? It took me countless hours with a magnifying glass to compile, that's not a joke. I have to spend days to re-learn everything, countless attempts and unable to trust wiki. I've reverted the removal. I appreciate that the information there is a overload of information and I will rewrite it in such a way that will appease those who want it to spoken in a role playing way. —unsigned comment by DROIDG420 (talk · contr) 14:43, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- While such a feat could certainly be congratulatory, this site is not the place to file such information. The wiki is meant to be an encyclopedia of all things Assassin's Creed, not a video game walkthrough site like IGN, however much some older pages may still reflect the site's former purview in its beginning years. Darman (talk) 15:15, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- If You give me the afternoon to edit it, and if you don't like what it still, then you can delete it, but do know it truly took more effort than anyone will ever put in again and the information will be lost to time. —unsigned comment by DROIDG420 (talk · contr) 15:47, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- I admit I don't know how best to add your trivia points to the article, or if it should be added at all according to the guidelines in our Manual of Style. But your edits are not lost forever. They still exist in the page's edit history. If we can/do add them, it will only be a matter of finding an old edit of the page and copy/pasting from there, with any necessary edits as appropriate. – Darman (talk) 15:55, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

I'm part way through a rewrite, the most important info, is the exact numbers and types of templar. They can easily be spoken of as an action report. —unsigned comment by DROIDG420 (talk · contr) 16:38, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Before you publish your edit, I'd like to suggest that you please read the Manual of Style first. I applaud you for your efforts these past years, but on closer inspection of your trivia, I'm not sure it can be added in an out-of-universe function the way, say, the various Crafting pages are written. – Darman (talk) 16:45, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- I appreciate your reply, I expected none. The way I wrote it all to begin with was actually largely written in the same style as what had been written in that section prior. I'm happy to remove info that's only important to me. I do request that the numbers of Templars be the part incorporated and kept. I'm still working on that, actually; it's allowed me to have a playthrough where I kill every single possible templar. Lastly, there is a bad bad glitch that needs to be known that kills your Assassin every time you call him. I hope we can allow a valid warning here —unsigned comment by DROIDG420 (talk · contr) 16:57, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Honestly, I think your information may be better kept for your personal game replay notes and/or put on a forum-like site for gaming rather than an online encyclopedia. The wiki is primarily meant for lore, but we acknowledge that too many of our oldest pages may instead still reflect the site's beginnings as a place for walkthroughs, and are not up to our current standards. Your note on the dead Assassin glitch could be added, but I'd like if it could be corroborated by a source/another user here first. – Darman (talk) 17:15, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

I've posted my partly done rewrite, and then reverted it to yours, the part you ought to not is the section about the templar attacks. It was very easy to speak of it as historical events. The tips section is exactly that. Now it's worth asking why after all these years is all this work being deleted. The few like myself who play revelations after all these years are those who wrote this. It was the work of countless people and their time spent is unnecessary to waste. I didn't create the trivia section, but I did write the book on it —unsigned comment by DROIDG420 (talk · contr) 18:14, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Once again, we remind you that this wiki is meant to be an encyclopedia of all things Assassin's Creed, not a video game walkthrough site like IGN. The fact that the content took time to write does not matter if it does not fit the wiki. I could take a year to write about statistics and publish on this wiki and it would still be removed because it does not fit. On the "why after all these years" point, it's because of the wiki's size. There are over 18 thousand pages and not that many regular editors, we work and fix things as we see them. - Soranin (talk) 18:37, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Further, the decision was made long before either of us three were more active here, decided by Staff who themselves have moved on and/or been replaced in the years since. All we can do is follow the rules and edit what we can, when we can. With fewer regular editors than in times past, there's greater workload to cover 3 extremely vast recent games (Origins, Odyssey, and now Valhalla) put on fewer people, never mind new media currently being released or fixing old pages we have lost track of. – Darman (talk) 19:00, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
