Date of Death[edit source]
In real life, Christopher Gist is believed to have died in 1759 from smallpox in either Virginia, South Carolina, or Georgia. Although some reports state that he lived up to 1794 and died in Cumberland, North Carolina. The former seems to be more commonly accepted as accurate. Should we reference this in his article? -- The Wikia Editor (talk) 23:04, October 26, 2015 (UTC)
- As a rule, our articles only contain information that comes from the AC media themselves, so games, novels, comics, etc. I don't believe there's any information on Gist's death (I'll check his database entry), so in this case, probably not. - Really? Because a lot of articles contain individuals' life and death dates if that person was real. Lodovico Ariosto, one of many examples, has his life and death dates listed on the grounds that he was a real-life individual. This was even discussed on his talk page. I figured the only exeptions were characters whose birth and death dates were explicity shown to be different (Garnier de Naplouse) from their real-life counterparts. -- The Wikia Editor (talk) 21:35, October 27, 2015 (UTC)
- Well, in the case of Gist, there's no certainty over what his actual date of death is, so we'd be guessing really by putting up either 1759 or 1794. That's perhaps the better reason to cite here, as it's true that we do add dates of birth and death of historic individuals elsewhere. Crook The Constantine District 20:43, October 27, 2015 (UTC)
- We've had a similar case with Anne Bonny where Ubisoft thought up an entirely different year of death. There's no conclusive year of death for Gist. -- Master Sima Yi Talk 20:56, October 27, 2015 (UTC)
- I agree, you're right. I do believe we should mention this in his trivia though. -- The Wikia Editor (talk) 23:09, October 27, 2015 (UTC)
- Christopher Gist was alive in 1560 , so he did not die in 1559.Hugues de Payens (talk) 06:02, December 31, 2015 (UTC)
