Just a Suggestion...[edit source]

This is just a suggestion, but concerning Aveline's mixed heritage, Creole would be a more concise term, since it is a person who is of French and African American ancestry like she. And a trivia piece could be that she resembles a pirate in some instances and her name is similar to Eveline Guerra's from AC: Revelations, and she too is a pirate. Strang3Happ3nings 21:14, June 2, 2012 (UTC)

Her heritage is speculation, and the trivia is opinion. So I disagree. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs Marvel Studios 21:19, June 2, 2012 (UTC)
So....they don't know what she is at this point? And that pirate thing is...not fact. Okay. Just making a suggestion. Strang3Happ3nings 06:48, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
You can't realistically call her "African American", since America didn't realistically exist at that time, so no-one could be labelled as such until later on in time. Slate Vesper 19:06, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
Now that we know for sure, she can be called Creole. Even though that term was used in Spanish America (Criollos) and Brasil (or they used "mestizo") as well for half Native, half European children, it means the same thing--someone of mixed ancestry. 76.103.45.132 19:20, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
French-African is more specific. Slate Vesper 19:22, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
Creole means "A person descended from French ancestors in southern United States (especially Louisiana)" or "A person of European descent born in the West Indies or Latin America" so French-African is still the preferable term as it is more accurate and specific. ~ Gabriel Auditore Let's talk 19:27, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
Okay, so the term refers to someone like me and not Aveline. Gotcha. Well, either way, she looks like an AWESOME addition to the AC series...let's hope this game sails and stays afloat...Strang3Happ3nings 03:22, June 5, 2012 (UTC)
I can't help but feel that Creole is a better term. Yes, it has a generally vague meaning but seeing as it is really only used in the area of New Orleans, I feel its more accurate. The wikipedia link could also help to clear up some of the misconceptions about her legal rights and all that. Louisiana Creole People or Creoles of Color are two great articles on the subect. I really hope you take it into consideration. As a descendant of mixed race Creoles, it would be cool for me to see her represented accurately. Widukind 216.115.140.104 00:44, June 7, 2012 (UTC)
We would also like to represent her accurately, but no official source has labelled her as Creole, so we cannot place it onto her article. Slate Vesper 00:55, June 7, 2012 (UTC)

Too soon?[edit source]

I filled out the article with a load of information from the leaked GI scans. Hope that's all right; don't want to go around breaking any rules or anything. ~ Gabriel Auditore Let's talk 19:02, June 4, 2012 (UTC)

While those details might be true, they need to be sourced properly. As such, I'd suggest you wait a while before it's re-added, so that we can get solid proof, such as a clear look at the GameInformer article's text. Slate Vesper 19:04, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
I used the scans Rapnoize uploaded here, they're of decent quality and the text is legible. Anyways, I think we'll get some more info during Ubi's press conference and even more when the magazine actually comes out ~ Gabriel Auditore Let's talk 19:15, June 4, 2012 (UTC)

Aveline's full name[edit source]

This video reveals Aveline's full name (is in Spanish, but is from YouTube's Assassin's Creed Spanish account: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjl6dc6UBrk&feature=g-u-u Dr Mutran 02:54, June 5, 2012 (UTC)

While that is something, we cannot be fully sure that the last part of her name has been translated into Spanish. To fully concrete it, we would need to see other sources, of which an English one would be most beneficial. Slate Vesper 03:10, June 5, 2012 (UTC)

Well, I know it's true now, since EscoBlades released a vignette on his channel, which is in English. Slate Vesper 03:23, June 5, 2012 (UTC)

Vignette "Glitch"?[edit source]

When watching the announcement trailer/vignette on Youtube, at 1:44, if you pause it, Aveline becomes someone else. Female but not herself. I suppose it's her mother? Maybe her mom is in Mexico? Strang3Happ3nings 03:58, June 5, 2012 (UTC)

It could be a brief flash of exclusive outfits. From what I saw when I paused the video around the 0:44 mark repeatedly is that one outfit is a plain, but stylish frock, and the other is an elegant dress. Slate Vesper 04:04, June 5, 2012 (UTC)
But this outfit looked like someone older...and she had a big forehead. :D Strang3Happ3nings 04:07, June 5, 2012 (UTC)
I would say that it's a view of who she was before she became an Assassin, to show that she was high class but also black. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs Marvel Studios 10:09, June 5, 2012 (UTC)
I would think it's an outfit to blend in for certain missions, because at 0:44 seconds she's wearing something different too. Oh, I hope we can change clothes in this one...>.<Strang3Happ3nings 16:07, June 5, 2012 (UTC) 16:03, June 5, 2012 (UTC)
I guess that's what the "glitch" is for. To hint at outfits for Aveline. Also, I'd just like to mention that the reason why you believe she had a large forehead is probably because she had been wearing a hat before you noticed that outfit. Once the hat was taken off, she looks like she has a large forehead because you can see more of her head, along with what appears to be the hair combed backwards. Slate Vesper 16:20, June 5, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I kinda figured her forehead isn't super huge; it's just the style. I noticed she has a noblewoman-looking outfit that's red with a white hat, too. And Connor changes clothes when he goes to sea, as well. So changing outfits is a new feature in the game! Yay! Strang3Happ3nings 16:34, June 5, 2012 (UTC)
I don't believe it has been established that changing outfits is a feature in the game which isn't more that customization. Slate Vesper 16:54, June 5, 2012 (UTC)
Let me dream, okay?! T_T :D Strang3Happ3nings 17:08, June 5, 2012 (UTC)

Relationship with Connor[edit source]

Anyone else speculate that the reason someone else is in the animus instead of desmond is so they can make her connors love intrest

She can't be Connor's love interest because she's not related to Desmond Miles. Slate Vesper 23:59, June 5, 2012 (UTC)
We don't know that for sure...do we? I mean, Desmond doesn't necessarily have to be the one in the Animus to view her memories. It could be a cousin, an uncle, a sister, his mother....Strang3Happ3nings 00:02, June 6, 2012 (UTC)
Why insist that she's related in some way to Desmond, just because her and his ancestor were said to have met each other? She doesn't need to be. Also, Desmond is not viewing her memories and he is not the only person who can use an Animus. Anyone can. Slate Vesper 00:11, June 6, 2012 (UTC)
I'm not defending either side, just checking to see if there's a possibility so that no one will go around putting specs in articles about Connor's connection to Aveline...Some people want to romanticize every opposite-sex relationship...we'll see when the game comes out. But for now, hold onto your underwear. Strang3Happ3nings 00:21, June 6, 2012 (UTC)

I'm sure that Aveline will go "hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me maybe" when she meets Connor and then they have hot sex and have babies. Because that's apparently what people do when they meet. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs Marvel Studios 19:33, June 6, 2012 (UTC)
Nailed it! The Crimson Eagle (talk) 20:25, August 16, 2012 (UTC)

I did not see it stated that they even meet, and if they do it does not meen that they form a relationship at all. Also they live in different parts of the North America that are under control of two different empires (American Colonies under British and New Orlens under the French). That doesn't count out them meeting, knowing eachother, or forming a relationship.74.32.237.194 17:06, June 9, 2012 (UTC)

Just speculation, I think Connor gets that boat from Aveline since her dad is rich and might have an expesnive toy like that. I dunno know why I just got that feeling, but I think she'll help him get that boat...Strang3Happ3nings 16:40, August 29, 2012 (UTC)

I think it should be mentioned that she is a Creole.

It's already been discussed that she's not. Her mother is African and her father is French, thus she is French-African. Someone who's Creole is African-American with French ancestry. She's not American, and no one was until 1776. Thus the term the article uses is correct. And please, sign your posts. Strang3Happ3nings 19:25, June 6, 2012 (UTC)

Creole has a variety of meanings. en/wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisiana_Creole_people#Race. That article explains it pretty well. Being American was never a requirement to be considered Creole. I'd like to see the article in which you found your definition. That definition may be applicable to today, although I stress that the word Creole is almost exclusively used in the New Orleans area, and the descendants of people who come from the city. I apologize if I seem a little stubborn on the issue, but I have Creole ancestry, I live in New Orleans, and I know what I'm talking about on this subject. Widukind 216.115.140.104 01:29, June 7, 2012 (UTC)

As I mentioned up above, Aveline has not been labeled as Creole in an official source, so we can't add that to her article. Metis is more of a general term with a similar meaning, so it can be used. Slate Vesper 01:40, June 7, 2012 (UTC)

just to clear things up, it WAS ALREADY CALLED AMERICA 2 CENTURIES prior, yes 1507. so african-american was already a term.our country isn't called 'America', that's the name of a string of continents. North and South. in which our country (the United Stated of America) is part of. so the above comment of no one being american until 1776 is ignorant and idiotic. anyone born on this continet was american.71.174.5.251 23:58, July 10, 2012 (UTC)anon

Please refrain from calling others ignorant or idiots. We can all converse and debate without resorting to name calling. It also takes away from your argument when you do it. -- KaloneousHelpDesk 00:05, July 11, 2012 (UTC)

Metis or French-African are still more specific than Creole. Also, this has already been discussed. ~ GI Auditore Talk to me maybe? 06:35, July 11, 2012 (UTC)

I don't know if this is significant, but I noticed in the recently released videos on the blog "Tons of New AC3 Info & Gameplay!" that Jilly Murray classifies her as being of "mixed heritage" and that "her mother was a creole slave, which means she came from the area now known as Haiti". I'm not so great at citing information so hopefully this helps another editor. AlexAdler (talk) 21:38, September 26, 2012 (UTC)

I was reading through the post when I noticed this: "Can you introduce us to the new protagonist, Aveline? What is her backstory?

Aveline is an assassin of mixed heritage. She is the daughter of a wealthy French merchant and his African placéebride (Plaçage was a form of temporary marriage that was widely accepted in Louisiana at this time). Aveline is raised with privilege and love, even after her mother disappears and her father marries her step-mother. As Aveline grows she develops into a strong willed young woman and starts to take notice of the contrasts around her – wealth and poverty, freedom and slavery, and while torn between the different values she inherited from her parents, she forms her own set of values, including a vehement anti-slavery stance. It is at this time that she is recruited to the Assassins by Agate, an escaped slave who teaches Aveline to focus the strengths and skills required as an Assassin."

Sound familiar? Seems like Ubisoft reads through the wiki after all ;) ~ GI Auditore Comms Channel 13:37, August 16, 2012 (UTC).

Aren't everything that is confirmed or canon be in the artikle? But i'm not the one boss here so i don't know.--ACsenior (talk) 17:32, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

I'd prefer not adding that till we have a better source than the video. No offence but it's REALLY blurry and people will have a hard time locating the part with the Eagle Vision. My suggestion is to wait for a written source or an official trailer. Of course, you can add it in anyway. It's a suggestion, not a rule. Also, ACSenior, it's a wiki; there is no "one boss" here and you don't need permission to edit as long as you follow the rules. ~ GI Auditore Comms Channel 17:35, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

The part where she uses Eagle vision is not blurry. And the whole video is not

blurry.--ACsenior (talk) 17:55, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

I have heard that you there is little to do, but I have given a lot of info. Only look at the links.--ACsenior (talk) 15:19, August 28, 2012 (UTC)

I looked at the gameplay video; it does look like she has Eagle Vision. For those 8 seconds the baddies are bright red and the allies are bright blue. When that window closes, they return to normal, although the baddies are still glowing red, just not as bright. I don't know, blurry or not, it looks like EV to me...Strang3Happ3nings 05:30, August 29, 2012 (UTC)

Aveline's Age[edit source]

Is it possible for Aveline to be younger than Connor yet be inducted sooner? I know Altair was trained his whole life, so really he was inducted at birth. She joined 11 years before him, so...maybe not? Speculations? Thoughts? Strang3Happ3nings 15:53, September 20, 2012 (UTC)

Aveline might be somewhat older than Connor, perhaps in her early 30s, whereas Connor is depicted as being in his early to mid 20s. They could also be the same age but Aveline could have been inducted at an earlier age. Supreme Master AssassinIL Mentori 16:29, September 20, 2012 (UTC)

Spanish Acquiring Louisiana[edit source]

The Spanish didn't acquire Louisiana until 1762 and held onto it until 1802. If those are in fact Spanish guards taking Aveline's mom away from her, then this event takes place sometime after they've taken it. What does all of this mean? That Aveline is younger than we thought. Unless the Spanish wiggled past French forces just to get her mom (unlikely) sooner than their acquisition, she was just a kid when this happened, maybe 6 or 7, assuming it's not some time after they acquired it rather than the year of. I know I'm probably wrong about all this, so please feel free to comment on this. It's just a random thought that occurred to me. TranquilTempestQu'est-ce que c'est? 04:20, October 27, 2012 (UTC)
