The Shield of Aaru was a legendary shield in ancient Egypt.

The shield was made available to the Medjay Bayek of Siwa through an Animus modification by Layla Hassan, who relived his memories.[1]

Description
The heavenly light of Aaru radiates through this shield.

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The central hieroglyphs on the shield are a misspelling of JNPW or Anpu, the native spelling and pronunciation of Anubis. Along with being named after Aaru, an aspect of the Egyptian afterlife considered to be a heavenly paradise, the shield's association with death and the afterlife is clear.

The Shield of Aaru, a shield in Assassin's Creed: Origins, uses the same model as the Tomb Protector, another shield in the same game.
