Renard

Renard (died 1792) was the leader of Les Actes des Apôtres, a royalist organization active in Paris during the French Revolution.
Biography[edit | edit source]
As the leader of the Apôtres, Renard ordered different operations during the chaotic times of the French Revolution, such as book-burning sprees of rare manuscripts and books deemed favorable to revolutionary ideas,[1] or the harassment of former royalists, including Rose Bertin, the Queen's dressmaker who had agreed to make costumes for theatres.[2]
In September 1792, the Apôtres also took part in the theft of the French Crown Jewels, stealing around nine thousand gemstones and planning to sell some of them, including the Sancy diamond, to finance future operations.[3] Working with fellow Assassin Charlotte Gouze and her vast network of contacts, Arno Dorian tracked Renard and his followers after the theft, killing them and ending the Apôtres' activities.[4]
