"I am Qen, servant in the Palace of Truth. I am a man who took an oath falsely, because of my devotion to the lady of the house, Nefertari. Divine wrath befell me."
―Qen's tombstone epitaph, 34 BCE[src]
Qen's tomb

Qen was an Egyptian artisan from the New Kingdom period (c. 1550–1069 BCE) who worked on the excavation and decoration of nearby royal tombs.[1] Following his death, Qen was buried in a necropolis south of the Valley of the Kings. By 34 BCE, bandits had desecrated his tomb and left nothing but his tombstone.[2]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Historically, Qen was buried near the Valley of the Kings in Set-Ma'at, opposite the former capital of Thebes and on the Nile's west bank.
