Throughout their travels in and around Sengoku period Japan, the Japanese Assassin Fujibayashi Naoe and the samurai Yasuke came across notes that contained information on people, businesses, and events.[1][2][3]

Our special guest is attracting unwelcome attention. Itatehyozu Shrine is no longer safe for him.

Pick a safe spot and move him there at the earliest opportunity. Do not share this location with anyone. I will contact you again when the master requires it.

As always, any injury to our master's guest will be visited tenfold upon those responsible.

Taro says Goro and Ichi-Hime are soon to abandon us? He is driving them away! I will see Taro at his home in the northwest and demand an explantion. Someone has to stand up to him.

None of this is real. I have to wake up. Why can't I wake up?

I found a red gate. I swear I saw daylight beyond it, but it's locked. Five seals hold it shut, each tied to a totem.

I tried everything, but only a mantra worked. When I chanted it, the totem started to crack. But in the panic, I stumbled on my words and something awoke.

A monster. I ran. I fought. I bled. Nothing stopped it. I tried everything: shuriken, kunai, even a katana strike.

If you find this, know that the totems can be destroyed. That must be the way out. I will try again to destroy the one in front of the gate.

Please, prove me right.

Gaspar,

Brothers Duarte and Caro have failed. These islands are slipping through out fingers. It falls to you to take control of the Seta River—the Order needs it to secure passage for the members of the Black Cross we are mobilizing. Once they reach your shore, the died will once again swing in our favor.

May the Father of Understanding guide you,
–M.

Captain,

Your orders are to arrest the defector Gautwin Brunsdecker and return him to the palace to answer for his crimes. We found notes on reinforcing subterranean structures in Lord Albrecht's chambers: one of Gautwin's accomplices. The defectors have likely taken shelter somewhere underground.

Remember: Gautwin is a Shifter. Do not be fooled by his meek exterior. He is dangerous.

If he cannot be subdued by your team, do whatever you must to reclaim the power.

Commander Hans

It's difficult to tell time down here, but it must have been at least two days since Sue-O disappeared with all of our surveying gear—including our food and water. I told the fool he was too heavy for that rope. I've debated whether I should follow him into the mist rather than waste away here, but the truth is, it frightens me.

My hope fades, but I've decided that, should they send a search party, this letter will at least explain what happened to us.

I joined Lord Albrecht and the foreigners because I believe they have the strength to forge a new future for this country, but now, lost in these endless caverns and without the strength to climb my way back to freedom, I die in darkness. My only regret is never knowing if my country will ever see peace. My peace, at least, will come soon.
