Nobutsuna's House

Nobutsuna's House was the home of swordmaster Kamiizumi Nobutsuna in southern Azuchi in Ōmi, Japan.

History[edit | edit source]

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki member and samurai Yasuke visited his mentor's home and met with Nobutsuna to discuss what had transpired after Honnō-ji. Within their meeting, Nobutsuna tasked Yasuke to find his fellow students and learn the mastery of the samurai's weapons. Yasuke agreed and held a promise of drinking a cup of sake afterwards, to which Nobutsuna reluctantly agreed.[1]

After he bested all of the other students, Yasuke returned back to Nobutsuna at his home, only to find Marume Nagayoshi mourning over Nobutsuna's corpse. Nagayoshi told Yasuke of how rival sword master Sanada Masatoyo killed their mentor and wrote a challenge to Yasuke in his blood. Although Nagayoshi wanted vengeance in blood, Yasuke convinced him to let go while he went to confront Masatoyo. Yasuke then confronted Nobutsuna's murderer at his estate, then defeated him in combat, and recovered the katana Crimson's Edge.[1]

After avenging his mentor, Yasuke returned back to Nobutsuna's home and talked to his mentor spiritually about how he was mentoring a young boy named Junjiro in the ways of the samurai like how he learned.[2]
