Nanno's Toothpick

Nanno's Toothpick was a pike which belonged to Nanno the Abakos, an Athenian mercenary who operated in Greece during the 5th century BCE. Whoever named the spear tried to turn Nanno's ghastly habit of skewering her notable victims' heads via their mouths into a joke. Being made light of didn't make the weapon nor its wielder any less deadly.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra received the spear, among other rewards, after she defeated Nanno for a bounty.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
