Miyazu Castle

Miyazu Castle (宮津城) is a castle situated in northern Miyazu Bay in Tamba, Japan.

History[edit | edit source]

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke trespassed into the castle to confront Yoshisada, second-in-command under Hosokawa Fujitaka and the mastermind of a silver-smuggling ring underneath his daimyō's nose. Confronting him in the central courtyard, they learned that he saw an opportunity as Fujitaka never took care of his finances but soon abused the operation for his own good. Blaming them for their investigation, Yoshisada attacked them but was fatally defeated. Naoe and Yasuke soon found a katana White Lie and a confession from Yoshisada's personal effects and left to inform Fujitaka at Sukyo-ji Temple.[1]

At some point, Naoe and Yasuke returned the castle, eliminated four of its samurai daisho, looted the Outfit of the Legendary Ronin from its treasure chest,[2] and collected a valuable fan for Niwa Nagahide.[3]
