Mahaut was a nun and a member of the Frankish Hidden Ones, acting as the leader of the Chinon bureau in the late 9th century CE.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 870, Mahaut received a letter from her old friend Basim ibn Ishaq, asking for assistance in Antioch to fight a resurgence of the Order of the Ancients, as well as a report on increased Viking activities. Summoning three Hidden Ones to the bureau in Chinon, Mahaut sent Aline to learn more about the Norse folk, while Matthias and Oisel were tasked to assist Basim in the Levant.[1]
