Hugo Soulière was the deputy warden of a prison situated in eastern La Bièvre, Paris, during the 18th century.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Hugo worked at a local prison under Warden Leroux during the French Revolution. However, Hugo impatiently wanted Leroux's position and concocted a plan. After purchasing a sword custom-made for the gang Les Marcheurs Morts, he tailed his boss on his way home and killed him. Ditching the body at a tannery, he removed Leroux's head and placed it on a pike at the prison to convey a gang threat against himself.[1]
When French Assassin Arno Dorian discovered Leroux's body, Hugo was questioned by Arno and explained how horrified he was and how he had not seen the warden since yesterday. Yet, his statement was determined to be a lie compared to other witnesses' accounts. After being justly accused of the crime, Hugo was apprehended by Arno and sent to jail.[1]
