Hliðskjálf

Hliðskjálf was the throne of the Æsir lord Havi of Ásgarðr.[1] From upon his throne, the All-Father could see the actions of every living being.[2]

History[edit | edit source]

In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time in Asgard, the Æsir lord sat upon his throne and was visited by the Nornir, who spoke of his fate against the wolf Fenrir. However, Havi refuted the claims of his demise but pondered if this was how Ragnarök began.[3] However, after cheating his fate with the Mead of poetry[4] stolen[5] from Jötunheimr, Havi later found himself back on his throne, where the Nornir appeared again and reaffirmed Asgard's fate but saw how he would survive the end.[4]

After the events of Havi's battle with Fenrir,[4] Havi's son Baldr talked with both his father and his stepmother Freyja at his throne about being a diplomatic emissary to tend over the quarrels in Svartálfaheimr between the Muspels and dwarves. Despite Havi's initial opposition, Freyja allowed Baldr permission to leave, though once the parents were alone, she admitted to Havi that she sensed that Baldr was hiding his own motives in his plans of diplomacy.[6]
