The Eleusinian Mysteries were religious rites that were a key element in the cult of Demeter and Persephone in ancient Greece.
History[edit | edit source]
Based in the Sanctuary of Eleusis in Attika, the Mysteries were an annual event held in the Telesterion.[1] According to legends, numerous legendary figures participated in them, including the hero-god Herakles,[2] and the nymph Melissa.[3]
