The entrance to the Cave of Rhea

The Cave of Rhea was a cave dedicated to the Titaness Rhea in Zeus' Playground in Messara, Greece.

During the Peloponnesian War, a former archer by the name of Pandaros served under the Followers of Ares who had occupied the cave. After attempting to desert from the cult, Pandaros was stripped off his clothing and possessions, and left for the wolves outside the cave. After being freed by the Spartan misthios Kassandra, he directed her to the cave, wherein she eliminated the Followers and claimed their valuables.[1]
