A view of Boura

Boura was a small village located within the Erymanthos Peaks in Achaia, Greece. It was said to be named either after Bura or the centaur Dexamenos, both figures in Greek mythology.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

During the Peloponnesian War, a group of villagers attempting to flee Achaia through the sea were forced to relocate to Boura for safety, after the city was blockaded by the fleet commanded by Phila, the Magus of the Order of the Storm.[2]

The Spartan misthios Kassandra followed the advice of a woman named Kleta and met her in the village to find an alternate way to leave Achaia. Kassandra was soon directed to meet an old man named Orontas watching over the fields. Before they could properly converse, they were interrupted by the arrival of several Order soldiers. Kassandra promptly dealt with them, whereupon she went to speak with Orontas and Kleta about a solution to get past the Order's blockade.[3]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

In historical account, Boura was an ancient polis and was one of the 12 cities of the Achaean League. The city was swallowed by the same earthquake that destroyed the nearby city of Helike in 373 BCE.
