Beaugency is a commune in north-central France, located on the Loire River.

On 16 June 1429, Beaugency was the site of a battle between the French and the English during the Hundred Years' War. The English forces led by John Talbot, 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, who had regrouped following the Battle of Meung-sur-Loire, was defeated by the French army, led by Jean II d'Alençon and Jeanne d'Arc. A decisive victory for the French, they continued on to city of Patay before English relief from Paris arrived.[1]
