The dagger paired with the Spear of Leonidas

The Assassin's Dagger was a dagger found in Greece during the 5th century BCE. This type of dagger was mainly used for assassinations.

History[edit | edit source]

During the Peloponnesian War, this dagger was a common throughout Greece as tensions between factions grew.[1] However, the Spartan misthios Kassandra was also rewarded this dagger for her help in the actor Thespis' play about King Leonidas and the Battle of Thermopylae.[2]

Daggers of this kind were also occasionally favored by the Order of the Ancients during their time in Greece. Namely, Bubares of the Order of Hunters carried and wielded one,[3] as did the elite footmen of the Order.[4]
