Íssvín was a wild boar reanimated by Hel to be utterly devoid of heat, along with Íssulfr, the wolf. Due to their nature, these cold-based creatures possess shorter lifespans and are more susceptible to bursts of electricity.

In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin at Niflheimr, the Isu fought Íssvín at Kaldstad during his efforts to reach Hel at her castle.
