Charles's Forward Camp

Charles's Forward Camp was a camp of King Charles the Fat and Frankish territory, in 9th century Evresin.
History[edit | edit source]
In the late 9th century, jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan visited the camp, alongside a rescued Queen Richardis, under King Charles' directive. Upon arrival, King Charles and Queen Richardis' meeting was tense as the king asked for his son, Bernard. However, Richardis only spoke of his safety. For a moment, Charles recounted the night of their wedding and how he thought himself to be the luckiest man alive and enamored with Richardis. However, Charles accused of Richardis of treason and adultery, much to Richardis' strong denial.[1]
Nevertheless, Charles also betrayed Eivor on his promise and ordered his soldiers to kill them. Charles left quickly as Eivor fended off and defeated his troops. Afterwards, Richardis and Eivor talked about Charles' attempt to murder them, but Richardis hoped that God and her faith may bring the real Charles back. Eivor made it clear that the siege will not stop and she had to report back to Sigfred. At the same time, Richardis stated that she and Bernard will hide at the slums, as Charles would dare not look there. Both departed each other as Richardis blessed Eivor's journey.[1]
From her travels, Eivor explored the camp itself and found a chest within a large red tent. When she opened the chest, Eivor received a Tungsten ingot.[2]
