Matthias was a Hidden One from the Frankish Brotherhood during the 9th century CE.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 870, the Chinon bureau's leader Mahaut received a letter from Basim ibn Ishaq, who requested help dismantling the Snake-Eaters, a faction of the Order of the Ancients that operated along the Silk Road. Mahaut sent Matthias and his friend Oisel to Antioch to assist Basim, while Matthias' lover Aline was sent to the north to investigate Viking activities.[1]
