The Viper (died 404 BCE) was the head informant for Critias, the leader of the Thirty Tyrants. She was known for wearing an armband in the shape of a viper.
Biography
In 404 BCE, the Viper attended a party in Athens. While there, she heard of Loukianos losing his mask and, knowing it could be an opportunity for an assassin, decided to stay on the second floor of the house and did not let any masked individuals go upstairs. She had an audience with a woman who came forward with information about Kassandra, a misthios the Viper had been looking for, learning she had been seen outside Loukianos' house earlier that day. She did not manage to act on the newly received intel, however, since she was killed by Kassandra moments later.[1]
