"Those who know the fine odor of pork will know the grunt of a snout only sated by blood of humans. This beast has killed seven bishops, all attacked during their sermons. Raiders dare not go near."

The Blood Swine

The Blood Swine was a legendary wild boar that lived in 9th century Eurvicscire, Northumbria. A gigantic boar, this legendary animal was an outlier, due to its size and four tusks, when compared to the general population of wild boars.

History

In the 870s, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan travelled around the region of Eurvicscire. Along her journey, Eivor came across a hunting log, which gave an account of a wild boar that was warned to be a blood-thirsty and depraved animal. Eivor looked around the area of Baesby Swamp, in southern Eurvicscire, and went into look in further for the animal. However, Eivor came to see nothing of the animal, due to the tall grass masking its full-body appearance. Upon entering its domain, Eivor startled the wild boar and the legendary animal heavily squealed and then began to fight against the warrior. After a gruesome battle, Eivor killed the creature and collected its head as her prize.[1]

Behind the scenes

The swamp the wild boar lives on has a limited supply of winter chanterelle, cloudberries, and Blackish Purple Russula with which were used to replenish Eivor's health and stamina, increasing the difficulty of the fight with the legendary creature.
