Sainte-Catherine-de-Fierbois is a commune in the Indre-et-Loire department in central France.

History

On 5 March 1429, Jeanne d'Arc and her entourage stopped in the French-occupied village to rest. Jeanne and her step-cousin and friend, Gabriel Laxart, entered the village's church to pay their respects to the village's patron saint.[1] On 7 March, after returning from Chinon on the request of Jeanne, Gabriel and the Assassin Jean de Metz returned to the village to retrieve a Sword of Eden underneath the altar of Saint Catherine. They were met with Father Michel who knew of the sword they spoke of, but said they would need to wait for the next day for it to be revealed to them. While the two waited, Father Michel had them accommodated.[2] The next day, the sword was unearthed and Father Michel unveiled it to Gabriel and de Metz before it was sent to be meticulously cleaned. De Metz later then began to train Gabriel in some Assassin skills including sword fighting and even how to perform a Leap of Faith.[3]
