Iran
Iran, officially the Islamic Republic of Iran and also known as Persia, is a country in the Middle East.
History
The Assassins were present in the Achaemenid Empire. In 465 BCE, Darius assassinated King Xerxes I, marking the first recorded use of the Hidden Blade.[1]
Around 1090, Hassan-i Sabbāh began the public branch of the Assassins in the fortress of Alamut.[2] Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad fled to there with his family while exiled in 1227. During his time living there, Altaïr discovered six Memory Seals beneath the fortress.[3]
Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was Shah of Iran from 1941 to 1979. In 1953, he allowed Abstergo Industries and the Central Intelligence Agency to overthrow Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh to protect their oil interests. Four years later, they helped him start SAVAK to goad his people into submission.[4]
