Halstein (died c.75,000 BCE) was a dwarven spy for the Sons of Ivaldi in Svartálfaheimr.

Biography

During the Muspel invasion of their realm, Halstein and fellow spy Sigrun escaped to the Jordber Shelter and followed the shelter chief Brudd's directive to keep eyes on the Muspels' actions. They later ventured to Eitri and found the Æsir lord Havi injured and semi-unconscious. Together, they carried him out of Eitri and towards their shelter.[1] They then found themselves underground in order to find their gift for Havi. Thankfully, Sigrun found and gifted the Hugr-Rip to Havi.[2]

Halstein and Sigrun followed Havi outside but found a Muspelheim alarm nearby. . Out of sight, they watched while Havi fought Sinmara. After Havi bested Sinmara, Sigrun and Halstein came out of hiding and led Havi to their shelter. Together, they arrived at the shelter and met with Brudd. After Havi found an ally with the shelter chief, Havi thanked Halstein and Sigrun for their rescue as they entered the shelter.[2]

Death

After they rested from saving Havi, Halstein and Sigrun followed a company of Muspel warriors under the seidr Calder. However, they were captured by Calder and imprisoned. Brought to the Sol-ok-Mani Vault in Svaladal, Calder and his Muspels had both dwarves dragged inside one of the vaults. Unfortunately, a ritual transpired when Calder retrieved the Salakar from the vault. With the Salakar, Calder took their hugrs, leaving their physical bodies behind in the progress. Afterwards, the Æsir lord later found their corpses and vowed to seek out their killer.[3]
