Diros Cave is a cave located within Dioskouroi Peninsula in Lakonia, Greece.
Around the time of the Peloponnesian War the cave and its surroundings were recognized as the lair of the legendary beast Lykaon Wolf, whence it roamed with its pack the peninsula, harassing the farmers. Rumors of the beast eventually reached the Two Kings of Sparta, and King Archidamos tasked the misthios Kassandra to rid the region of the beast.[1][2] The leader of the Daughters of Artemis at the time, Daphnae, also wished to see Kassandra defeat the beast as proof of her abilities.[3]
Trivia
- The name of the place references the town of Pyrgos Dirou, and the nearby Diros Caves. However, they're located on what in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is named West Taygetos Foothills in Messenia.
