David Kilkerman

David Kilkerman a member of the Inner Sanctum of the Templar Order and is an employee of Abstergo Industries.

Throughout his career as both a Templar and an employee of Abstergo, he witnessed Subject 17 relive his ancestor's memories, and years later witnessed Simon Hathaway's induction into the Inner Sanctum.

Biography

Working for Abstergo

In 2000, he was included alongside Nancy Nilop in a carbon-copy of an email from Warren Vidic to Alan Rikkin discussing Daniel Cross' return to the Templar's facility in Philadelphia after Cross instinctively killed the Mentor.

On 8 September 2012, he was also present alongside Rikkin and Henry Liman when Alan spoke to Vidic after Desmond Miles had finished reliving the memories of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. After Vidic's death in December of that year, David became the new head of the Animus Project. ^{[citation needed]}

Inner Sanctum duties

In October 2016, he was present during the induction of Simon Hathaway into the Inner Sanctum. Ten days later, Kilkerman sided with Rikkin against Hathaway when charges of treason were brought against their fellow Templar. However, only backed by Kilkerman, Stearns, and Gramática, Rikkin had no choices but to drop the charges.

In March 2017, the Inner Sanctum invited the new Black Cross to a meeting in Quebec, during which David was present. Displeased that he self-appointed himself their inquisitor, they threatened him and demanded to know his identity. The masked man responded that he came only as a courtesy, to inform them that he was investigating an hostile fifth column within the Order. After affirming his independance, the Black Cross dropped a smoke bomb and disappeared.

David Kilkerman is a character introduced in the 2007 video game, Assassin's Creed. Although not named in it, his identity was revealed in the Assassin's Creed: Official Game Guide.

Etymology

The name David is of Hebrew origin, derived from the legendary King David. Further origins behind its meaning of "beloved" originally come from the root dôwd (דּוֹד) "to boil" but surived in the Biblical Hebrew to mean "to love".

The surname Kilkerman may be a variation on the German surname Kilker, kilker meaning "killer". Alternatively, it is a bastardization of the Gaelic surname O'Ciarain or O'Ceirin, itself derived from the Gaelic word ciar, which means "black" or "dark brown".
