Cambridge during the Medieval period

Cambridge (Old English: "Grantebridge") is a city and the county town of Cambridgeshire, England. It once served as an important trading centre during the Roman and Viking Age.

History

Medieval period

Originally under the possession of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia, Cambridge, then known as Grantebridge, was seized by the Great Summer Army led by jarls Guthrum and Soma in the early 870s. Under Soma's rule, Grantebridge greatly developed from a small town into a prosperous and power trading city.[1]

In 873, Saxon troops led by Order of the Ancients member Wigmund captured the city from the Vikings, having been led to a secret tunnel entrance beneath the longhouse[1] by a traitorous Galinn, one of Soma's most trusted advisors.[2]

Modern times

In 2019, the Assassin My'shell Lemair travelled to Cambridge along with Aliyah Kahn to rescue Gavin Banks who was held captive by the Templar Fahad Khan at the Isaac Newton Cambridge Museum. With the help of the AI of Shaun Hastings, they managed to free Gavin and assassinate Fahad.[3]
