Stalker

Stalkers were Byzantine assailants, who tried to kill the Assassin Ezio Auditore during his stay in Constantinople in 1511.
Stalkers would dress similarly to civilians and wield short blades concealed in their sleeves before attacking. They also carried a large amount of Akçe, as well as rare bomb ingredients.
Behavior
When approaching their target, stalkers would blend in with the crowd, and conceal their weapon, waiting for the right moment to strike. Should Ezio look towards them, they would only stand still and wait for an opportunity to attack him from behind.[1]
Stalkers rarely engaged in open combat, and would only sneak up behind Ezio, stab him, and flee. However, most of the time, Ezio would disarm them, and use their own weapon to kill them. Alternatively, if Ezio recognized the stalker, either by seeing them sneaking up to him or by using Eagle Sense, then he would approach and kill them.[1]
Stalkers would also participate in the attacks on Assassin Dens, sneaking onto rooftops to kill Assassin defenders from behind. However, as overseer, Ezio would either shoot them with his Hidden Gun, or send his Assassins to attack the stalkers directly.[2]
Trivia
- An appearance of a stalker is indicated by a white knife on the mini-map, ambient whispering noise, and a change in the background music.
- The second set of the Romanies' guild challenges consists of killing (or countering) five stalkers before they stab Ezio.
- If Ezio turned around just before a stalker was close enough to stab him, Ezio would forcefully push the stalker backwards and send him flying onto the floor. This did not kill the stalker though, and they would flee if Ezio did not finish them.
- Killing a stalker reduced Templar Awareness by 25%.
- Ottoman guards would chase down stalkers if they witnessed them assaulting Ezio.
