A Man They Call the Sage
From the Assassin's Creed Wiki
Revision as of 02:38, 11 October 2026 by Fielran(Sọ̀rọ̀ | contribs)(added ACBFR dialogue, minor corrections to original dialogue. Incomplete - needs ACBFR Spanish dialogue, verify new French dialogue. (It sure sounds like du Casse is saying Mon Bleu rather then Mon Dieu, but it seems weird))
I thought we wanted the same thing. This memory has been marked as incomplete. Please update the page to include the missing dialogue transcription(s) or choice(s), and then remove this template once done.
Edward followed the Templars under a small pavilion, where a man sat cuffed in a chair and under guard.
Laureano:Here he is, a man both Templars and Assassins have sought for over a decade. I am told your surname is Roberts. Is this so? You recognize this, I think.
He produced the blood vial and drew some of Roberts' blood into it.
Torres drawing Roberts' blood into the vial
Julien:According to the old tales, the blood of a sage is required to enter the Observatory.
Laureano:We have the key. Now we need only its location. Perhaps mister Roberts will be eager to provide it. Transfer him to my residence.
The group headed towards Torres' residence, with Roberts still under guard.
Edward:Such a fuss over one man. Is the Observatory really such a grand prize?
Laureano: Sí, sin duda. (Yes, indeed.) The Observatory was a tool built by the Precursor race. Its worth is without measure.
Edward:Precursor race... I see.
Laureano:One of your early letters mentioned the desire to kill the MayanMentor, Ah Tabai. Were you able to carry out this contract before coming here?
Edward:I... I was not, no. Too many... complications along the way.
Laureano:A pity. But the maps you delivered with this vial will see that job finished.
Edward:Aye. That's the idea.
Woodes:It's too quiet.
Woodes:I don't like this route, Torres. We're exposed.
Julien:Something is wrong. Stay close, Grand Master!
Lareano:I feel it too. Do not let them get their hands on the Sage! At whatever cost!
During the journey to the mansion, the group was attacked by Assassins.
Woodes:Assassins! Above! They're on the rooftops! Crossing me is fatal, cur! Don't expect mercy. I've survived much worse than you! To action then. It ends now! You're consigned to oblivion.
Julien:Watch the streets and alleys. They could be anywhere!
Torres:Protect the Sage!
Woodes:Assassins!
Julien:Assassins! Malédiction! (Shit!)
Torres:Guard the Sage! (Guard the Sage! Quickly!
Woodes:There! Protect the Governor!
Julien: Une deuxième tempête se lève. (A second storm beckons.) To the Governor's Residence, quickly! Watch the streets and alleys. They could be anywhere.
They were attacked again.
Julien:Assassins! (Assassins!)
Woodes:Above! They're on the rooftops!
Woodes:Triple the shipment of firearms, Julien. These attacks will escalate.
Lareano: Sí. (Yes.) We do well to brace for further troubles.
Woodes:Whatever they try, we won't be caught unprepared again. The Governor's Residence is near! Come!
They made their way to a market square and were again set upon.
Woodes:Another wave!
Julien:To arms!
Lareano:Protect the Sage!
Julien: Mon bleu! (Fuck!) We need to move, now!
Edward and the others fought off the attack, but they were caught by surprise when more Assassins ambushed their group. One landed to Rogers' left and used a blowpipe to fire a poisondart at him, and another dart hit the right side of his neck. Another leaped down to air-assassinate one of Roberts' two escorting soldiers with his right Hidden Blade. The other soldier immediately drew his sword to impale the Assassin, who swept their right arm within the sword's guard to knock it aside and used their left Hidden Blade to stab the soldier's neck, killing him.
A third Assassin leaped down and fired a dart at Edward, slowing him down long enough for them to break Roberts' cuffs with their Hidden Blades; Roberts immediately used his freed hands to stab the Assassin with his own hidden blade. Behind them, El Tiburón charged an Assassin and chopped at their back with his battleaxe, then threw his axe at another, lodging the blade in their chest. Amidst the chaos, Roberts took the chance to escape.
Guard:Ah!
Laureano:Stop him!
Edward gave chase after Roberts.
Edward:You're a nimble one, I'll give you that.
Roberts:Whelp! You curs are on a course you'll sorely regret!
Roberts came to a locked gate.
Roberts:Blast! Is there no way out of this dust bowl?
Edward:Hah! Nowhere to run.
Roberts:Have you ever been flayed, boy?
Edward:They could never catch me.
Edward and Roberts fought, and Edward prevailed.
Edward:Got you!
He managed to capture the Sage and escorted him back at gunpoint.
Roberts:Well done, lap dog.
Edward:Quiet!
Julien:We'll see him to the prisons, Grand Master.
Laureano:Double the watch.
Woodes parting company with the others
Woodes:Well, I'll be buggered. What an active day we've had, gents!
Laureano: Sí. (Yes.) Beset on all sides by our enemies. We must be more cautious.
Woodes:I do wish I could remain to see our drama done, but I must avail myself of these winds and sail for England.
Laureano:By all means, Captain. Speed and fortune to you.
Woodes:With luck, I'll return myself a governor. And with my idiot King's blessing, no less. ¡Adios! (Goodbye!)
Torres handed Edward a purse full of coins.
Laureano:As for you, Mr. Walpole... I consider this the first payment in a long-term investment. Gracias. (Thank you.)
Edward:Obliged.
Torres:I would like you to be present for the interrogation tomorrow. Call around noon.
Edward:Yes, sir.
Edward:All that toil for this pittance? Jaysus.
Outcome
Edward managed to recapture the Sage for the Templars, and received the payment for the delivered maps and blood vial.
Behind the scenes
In the novelization, the Assassin attack on the Templars in order to rescue Roberts is omitted, and the Templars' initiation scene leads directly into Rogers' departure for England. Despite this, Ah Tabai still berates Edward for murdering his students in the novel.
Some Assassins can be seen assassinating guards from hiding spots, and Edward could shoot the unarmed Assassins during his walk with the Templars.
The music that plays while escorting Roberts and the Templars is borrowed from Assassin's Creed III, making it the only major piece of music in the game not newly-composed from the soundtrack.
