Chapter 1
Summary
- On a hunt
- Hámund's arrow didn't fell the deer instantly, allowing it to scream and leave a trail of blood.
- At least 5 wolves surround the brothers
- Hámund proposes leaving the deer to the wolves, while Geirmund considered the prizes: the meat, pelt and antlers.
- Three days since they left Avaldsnes. They followed the Alfjord until the high lands southwest of the village of Olund, near the frontier with Hordaland. More than one day from the village, tho.
- Hamund wanted the deer
- The wolf leader appears
- Geirmund has a sword and an axe, while Hamund uses the bow against the wolves
- Wolf bit Geirmund's arm and even broke a tooth
- Killed 6 wolves before the others leave
- Make camp as night falls
- Hamund has difficulties lighting the campfire and stands stumbling before falling
- Geirmund runs to hamund becasue he's best boy
- Geirmund then proceeds to use the axe to cauterize hamund's injuries, by heating it on the fire and then pressing it on him
- bound hamund's arm and started to make a sleigh using the pelts from the wolves and felling two trees
- Tied hamund and the weapons to the sleigh
- Set off for Avaldsnes during the night looking for a healer to take care of Hamund otherwise he dead
